1. Coverage Overview
We offer two distinct 12-month limited warranties, depending on your purchase and service:
A. Hardware Warranty (12 months + additional 12 months*)
Applies only to all hardware purchased directly from Dash Cams SD — including dash cameras, batteries, and accessories.
Covers defects in materials under normal, intended use.
*Register your Viofo product to get 24 months of coverage with Viofo.
B. Workmanship Warranty (12 months)
Covers workmanship related to installations performed by Dash Cams SD, including wiring, fuse-tap connections, and cable routing.
If an installation-related issue occurs within 12 months of service, we will correct it at no charge.
2. Professional Installation Required
To qualify for a hardware warranty coverage, the product must be professionally installed by Dash Cams SD or an authorized Dash Cams SD partner.
Products purchased elsewhere or self-installed are not eligible for any hardware or labor warranty coverage under this policy.
3. What’s Included
Under this limited warranty, Dash Cams SD will:
• Diagnose and verify the reported issue.
• Coordinate directly with the manufacturer or supplier for product repair or replacement.
• Perform any testing required by the supplier before shipment.
• Handle all warranty communications on your behalf.
The customer is responsible only for shipping costs associated with returning/replacing the defective unit, unless otherwise stated by the supplier.
For minor diagnostic tests required by the manufacturer or supplier, the client may be asked to perform troubleshooting steps (including but not limited to sending photos, videos, formatting/changing a microSD card) before a warranty claim can proceed.
4. Exclusions and Limitations
This warranty does not cover:
• Damage caused by misuse, abuse, accidents, or improper handling.
• Electrical issues caused by third-party wiring, aftermarket accessories, or self-installation.
• Water, corrosion, or environmental damage from exposure beyond normal driving conditions.
• Any product not purchased directly from Dash Cams SD or not installed by Dash Cams SD.
• Normal wear and tear or cosmetic imperfections that do not affect performance.
• SD card corruption, software or firmware updates, or data loss.
• Vehicle-related electrical faults, voltage spikes, or fuse damage due to unrelated issues.
• Labor or parts associated with re-installation after vehicle sale or modification.
• Dash Cams SD is a dash cam installation company and is not liable for any damages, accidents, or injuries that occur during the use of the dash cam or natural disasters.
• Dashcams are used as a recording device during accidents, however we do not guarantee the proper recording of all videos in case of an accident. We are not responsible for losses due to damages of recorded files, the recovery of lost files, or failure.
• Dash cameras are not a substitute for attentive driving or other safety precautions and should not be relied upon for emergency detection or obstacle avoidance.
5. How to Make a Warranty Claim
Contact us at hello@dashcamssd.com with your Full Name, date of installation, and a description of the issue.
We will attempt to troubleshoot the issue remotely.
If the remedy does not work, we’ll schedule an in-person diagnostic appointment to determine the cause.
If a defect is confirmed, we will guide you through the repair or replacement process.
Most warranty claims are resolved within 7–14 business days after we receive the item.
If the issue is unrelated to installation or a manufacturer's defect, a standard service fee may apply.
6. Warranty Transfer
This warranty is non-transferable and applies only to the original purchaser and vehicle on record.
Coverage automatically terminates if the dash camera system is sold with or without a vehicle, removed, modified, or reinstalled by an unauthorized party.
7. Legal Terms
Dash Cams SD’s responsibility is limited to repair, replacement, or reimbursement at our discretion.
In no event shall Dash Cams SD be liable for incidental, indirect, or consequential damages arising from product use, installation, or loss of recorded data.
This warranty is governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
8. Local Technical Support
We are based in San Diego and proudly provide local technical support for all installations performed by Dash Cams SD.
If you have any questions or concerns about your dash camera system, our technicians are always available — even after your warranty period ends.
9. Out-of-Warranty Support & Fees
We believe in supporting our San Diego community for the long haul. While we offer complimentary remote troubleshooting for the life of your product, physical service after the 12-month workmanship warranty period is subject to the following fee structure:
Remote Technical Support: Complimentary
Includes troubleshooting via phone or email and firmware update guidance.
On-Site Diagnostic Visit: Flat Service Fee
A standard mobile service fee applies for in-person technician visits to test wiring and hardware state. Extra materials (if applicable) are not included.
Labor & Repair Services: Project-Based Rate
Applies to hardware swaps, system re-installations, or wire re-routing. We will provide a clear estimate before work begins.
Replacement Parts: Current Retail Pricing
Out-of-warranty hardware replacements are charged at the current retail price.
Our Commitment: If a diagnostic visit reveals the issue was caused by our original installation workmanship, we may waive the service fee at our discretion, regardless of how much time has passed.
10. Returns & Cancellations
To maintain our high standard of service and hardware quality, the following policies apply to all returns and order changes:
Hardware Returns: Unopened and unused hardware may be returned within 14 days of purchase, and may be subject to a 15% restocking fee.
Once a product has been installed or the original packaging is unsealed, it is no longer eligible for a return or refund.
Labor & Installation Fees: Labor fees are non-refundable once the service has been performed. If you are unhappy with the placement or functionality, please refer to our Workmanship Warranty for complimentary adjustments.
Cancellations: Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice may be subject to a cancellation fee.
Special Orders: * Any hardware specifically ordered for a client that is not part of our standard inventory is considered a Final Sale.
Note: Shipping and handling costs incurred for returning hardware to the manufacturer or to Dash Cams SD are the responsibility of the client.
